The question I get asked the most is "Why do you like My Chemical Romance so much?", and, although the answer is simple, I can't seem to explain it. There's so many reasons that I love MCR, and it's hard to just think of one. The majority of the fans would say thinks like "Oh Em Gee! Jerry is the hottest!"
Those are the fans that don't find meaning in the music. I'm a completely different fan.
I am the fan that has seen them live 7 times and sings every word to every song. I've met Gerard and Mikey's mother. I have all the CDs and DVDs and the majority of my wardrobe consists of MCR shirts and jackets. I don't bootleg their music off of Limewire or some other place – I care about them enough to know that the profits off their clothing will one way or another benefit them or some form of charity. I'm the fan that knows the meaning behind the songs.
My Chemical Romance's music is filled with emotion and meaning, an element that any true fan can pick up on. Songs like Cancer and Disenchanted, although slower, are just as meaningful as fast-paced songs such as House of Wolves and Honey, This Mirror Isn't Big Enough For The Two of Us.
Yes , all the members are attractive in their own way. But, if you can't see past the members of the band and can't feel the emotion in all their songs, how can you really call yourself a true fan?
Whether funny or serious, every single song by this band has some kind of meaning, even if it's minor.
Headfirst For Halos is about suicide. Skylines and Turnstiles is about September 11th. Demolition Lovers captures the emotion of two lovers that would do anything for each other. Helena is about Gerard and Mikey's grandmother, their inspiration behind almost everything they do. You Know What They Do To Guys Like Us In Prison is about getting sodomized in jail. I'm Not Okay brings across the meaning that it really is alright to be different than everyone else. Famous Last Words is about being able to live, even if you are alone.
When someone asks me why I'm such a huge fan of this band – sure, I can tell them all of this. But unless they've experienced the magic in the music, they won't get it.
So my answer is four simple words. "You just wouldn't understand."
My entry for :iconmoonrush:'s Epic Contest.
